The congregation of Let There Be Peace International Ministry gathered for a mighty and powerful service on the 31st of August 2025.
Our service commenced as our intercessors led us in prayer, seeking God’s mercy and favour and pleading his precious blood over our lives. Our dynamic worship team then began to lead celebratory praises (My God is good oh), (Obridago) and magnificent worship (For your glory), (Be magnified).
The two types of people.
“God is going to visit your situation today. This morning I want us to look at different types of people, because sometimes things that people tell you can put you in bondage.”, Our Man of God, Healing Evangelist JK Fenuku, opened the sermon with this eye-opening revelation. As children of God, we are good news reporters. I must be able to lift you up when you are low.
As we continued, we turned to Scripture in Matthew 25 verses 1 to 13. We have two sets of people: the wise and the foolish. There are two things displayed here in the foolish: laziness and bad character. We are going on a journey. You do not know the time you will be there but you are unprepared.
The oil represents your character
You might say that the wise are stingy and should have given the oil. But that is the wrong thinking. The oil mentioned in the Bible means character. “What character do you have? Do not let anyone deceive you. Jesus is surely coming.” If you are going to an interview, you know the dress code and that you have to wear a tie. You choose not to wear the tie because it is too hot. You cannot go and ask a colleague to borrow their tie. Look at the people that are in authoritative positions in society. Look at the way they present themselves. No one who is behaving anyhow can be accepted into that position. You cannot get a good character overnight. It takes years and years.
What character do you have?
The foolish women were running to the wise saying, “Please give me your character.” And that is not possible. The only thing we can do is observe people and the good habits they have and begin to adopt them. Total discipline comes with a good character. “What character do you portray? Are you faking a good character at church and then unleash the real character after church?”
God knows you better than you know yourself.
Certain doors in life, God withholds them. Not because you are doing something wrong, but because He knows you. He knows your tomorrow and how it may affect you. There are certain things that God withholds because He knows it will take you away from Him. If a six-year-old is given a car, they will not care about it. They will even take stones and scratch it. If a 19-year-old without a driver’s license is given a car, they will wreck it and kill themselves. If a 27-year-old with a license is given a car, they will appreciate it and care for it. The 6-year-old is innocent. They do not know better. But the 19-year-old is not innocent because they know better. The same way with God: He will not give you something He knows you are not ready for because it will destroy your life.
Allow God to remove your bad character before it destroys your life.
If a person with a bad character has a friend who is encouraging bad things, they will go along with it because they have always wanted to do it. They just did not have a partner to do it with or did not have the opportunity to do it. But those with good characters will say, “No, this is wrong, stop this behavior.” Whatever character you are hiding in your heart, let it fly out, because that same character will destroy you. There are many that have lots of money and are lying in the hospital bed. Why? Because when they did not have money, they were abusing their health. And now that they have it, they cannot enjoy it because of their bad character.
It is never too late to change.
You might say, “Oh, I have been doing this bad habit for so long now.” No, there is still room for change. Search your heart and allow that bad character to leave you. That drinking habit you have — the point where you are too drunk to think straight — is the position that the devil wants you to be in. So he can send someone else who is drunk driving to crash into you and destroy you.
Allow Jesus to take control.
God wants to bless you, but He knows if He opens that door, you will use that blessing to destroy yourself. Nothing is wrong with you. Locate that arena that Satan has imprisoned you in and see God’s power take place. Nothing of this world can remove stress.
Don’t go and look for Jesus in other places. Look for Him in your house. If you cannot use His name in your house, you cannot use it anywhere. There is no special power at church. Jesus is everywhere, even your bathroom. So allow Jesus into your heart and home. Amen.
