Leave the Past Behind
As Healing Evangelist J.K. Fenuku entered, he shared an eye-opening message:
“Many go to Jesus and say, ‘Lord, I receive You as my Lord and Savior,’ yet they are still walking in their past. God can never be with someone who remains in the past, because God does not dwell in the past.”
Forgetting Your Past to Reach Jesus
Scripture: Philippians 3:12–14
“Brothers and sisters, one thing I do is forget the things of the past—the failures and disappointments—so that I may touch Jesus.”
The Prison of the Past
“Because of the past, the devil has imprisoned many people who were meant to be masters. Many are sitting in bondage; their limitations, failures, and stagnation cannot leave them because they are holding on to the past.”
The Turning Point:“The day you leave your past is the day you truly begin to follow Jesus.”
Release and Forgive
“Who are you hiding in your spirit that you cannot let go of or forgive? Release yourself.”
Break the Cycle
“You cannot continue, year after year, going through the same thing and placing yourself in bondage. A year is not truly new if nothing changes. When we come to Jesus, it is a must that we leave our past behind.”
Stop Holding Yourself Back
“You are holding on to someone who does not even know that you are holding them. In doing so, you are holding yourself back from attaining what God has for you.”
God’s Reach
“God’s hand is never too short to reach you. Even in your bedroom, God is able.”
Stop the Blame
“Many people waste their lives and blame their parents or their environment.”
The Standard of Forgiveness
“When you cannot forgive, you become the complete opposite of the person Jesus wants to walk with. God will not have anything to do with someone who cannot forgive, because His grace was given to us freely.”
The Responsibility:“Only you can free yourself.”
Press Towards Jesus
“Paul said, ‘I press toward the goal.’ He said, ‘I am not saying I have already attained it, but in order to reach Him, I need to forget my past so that I can hold on to Him.'”
The Promise of Touching Jesus:
- “Touching Jesus is touching your healing.”
- “Touching Jesus is touching your blessing.”
- “Anyone who touches Him must receive something productive from it.”
Jesus Never Walks Backwards
“Do you ever think that Jesus is going to turn back and walk backward? No, that will never happen.”
The Decision:“It is up to you to let go and follow Jesus.”
The Danger of Bad Counsel
“Anyone advising you not to forgive is placing you in bondage.”
The Blessing of Release
“When you forgive, it is not the other person who reaps the blessing—you are the one who receives the blessing.”
The Power of Forgiveness
“Those who cannot forgive are saying to Jesus, ‘The blood You shed on the cross—I have no part in it.'”
Favor and Transformation
“The Bible says that when you find favor in the eyes of God, even your enemies will provide for you. When God speaks, things change. When you touch Jesus, healing, blessings, and miracles become evident.”
Show Christ Through Your Life
“Jesus asked Isaiah, ‘Do you not know the Spirit that is in you?'”
The Challenge:“What are you doing for someone who is not a Christian to see your life and ask you for help?”
When you truly leave the past behind, your life becomes a living testimony that draws others to Christ.
